the pads become clogged up,will an inline water filter alleviate the problem or is there something i can put in the water once a week or less to counteract the buildup

I am looking into purchasing counter-top distiller to make drinking water. Please do not leave post on drinking tap water.
1) Could you recommend me a water distiller that is small? Price range $ 100 ~ $ 400
2) It seems distillers come with charcoal filters. What are they for? if process distillation removes impurities?
3) Since water distillation removes all essential minerals, are there additives to put in distilled water? (Is Cell Food from Lumina Products, one of them?)
4) Are there any negative aspects in using a counter-top water distiller? The time it takes to make distilled water, taste, and electric bill is not my concern.
5) Does distillation rid of all impurities?

It isn’t good to drink distilled water. It has no ions in it and it will remove ions from your body. Tap water is perfectly acceptable in the US. If your water has off flavors get a ‘Brita’ type filter.
Again, don’t drink distilled water.
Charcoal filters are for organic contaminants (off-flavors and color – it’s what a Brita is). Distillation just removes all ions.
Yes, distilled water will remove ions from your system and can be dangerous.
