i would recomend it but the only problem is once you get used to it regular tap water will taste incredibly bad so if where you work or whatever you have to drink tap then I wouldn't recommend it

It will improve the taste and maybe clarity, but be aware, they are S-L-O-W and don't hold much. There are also filters that attach to your tap and provide filtered water on demand. (PUR is a common one). You can also buy "in-line" water filters that attach to the hose that supplies your refrigerator so you then have water that tastes better and is cold.

If you can find a filter that will get rid of chlorine taste [assuming you're on city water somewhere] definitely worth it. Most tap water is technically 'safe', but that doesn't make it taste good...so find out what the water is in your area [health departments have to know, usually under a heading 'water quality board' or somesuch] and see if cost of filter vs. what your tap contains factors out for you! We have our own 440' deep well and are dreadfully spoiled as to water quality...we take jugs of it along when traveling so our morning coffee doesn't taste like [deleted].

Most public water systems are already filtered and treated for you. Some of them still have a funky taste though due to pipes, chemicals, or other outside influences. If you think that your tap water tastes funky, then a filter might do the trick. Though a water filter may not be necessary, it could provide a peace of mind knowing that your water is filtered at least twice :-)

Just remember that you will have to constantly buy filters every few months, so work that into your budget if it is something you are going to do.

Hope this helps!
